Virtual Tour Privacy Review: Check Every Direction Before Launch
A conventional photograph has a frame. A 360 panorama lets the viewer look in directions the approver may never have inspected. A virtual tour privacy review should cover the whole sphere, navigation points and linked information before release.
Review the environment before capture
Walk the planned route and identify personal photographs, visitor records, computer screens, security information and restricted rooms. Remove or cover what should not appear. Check mirrors and reflective surfaces, which can reveal people outside the obvious camera view.
Inspect each panorama systematically
Rotate fully, then check upward and downward views. Review the capture at sufficient resolution to read small details. A quick tour at low quality can conceal information that becomes visible when the image finishes loading.
Check transitions and hotspots
Navigation can reveal a room that was meant to remain private. Hotspots may contain names, contact details or outdated documents. Review those elements as part of the same asset, not as unrelated website content.
Confirm edits after processing
Faces, number plates and documents may need appropriate treatment depending on the location and use. Review the final output rather than assuming a blur request was completed. Pay attention to seams and overlapping views where a detail can appear more than once.
Assign a release owner
Give one responsible person a list of the capture points and a clear approval task. Record which version was approved and when. If the tour is updated later, review the changed panoramas and any new route connections.
For workplaces, clinics and occupied properties, involve the relevant site manager in identifying what should remain out of view. The production team cannot infer every confidentiality concern from appearance alone.
AVL can help plan immersive spaces and visual production with a defined review process. Share your proposed public route with the AVL team before capture so privacy review fits naturally into delivery.
